Japanese consumer electronics company Nintendo has confirmed that it will be releasing a Mario Kart app anywhere from April 2018 to March 2019.
The app called Mario Kart Tour is said to be the next mobile adaptation of the game Mario Kart, where it presents a series of go-kart-style racing video games and a spin-off of its Super Mario series. “The checkered flag has been raised and the finish line is near,” wrote Nintendo on its Twitter page. There was no additional detail about the app.
Last January 31, Nintendo also said that Mario is soon coming to the big screen in the form of an animated movie, but no release date was stated. Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, who worked with the Mario franchise, said that he will be co-producing the animated movie with Illumination Entertainment. According to The Wall Street Journal, “Mario and Luigi are heading to the big screen in one of the highest profile licensing deals by a Hollywood studio in years.”
Japan’s Universal Studios also showed its teaser trailer for the upcoming Mario Kart ride as a part of their park attraction. The said crowd-pleaser will allow tourists and locals to visit the castles of Bowser and Peach, characters in the Mario game. The patent also reveals a ride system that will literally allow one to be inside a robot suit.
