When one more offspring is developing inside the womb of a woman, it is called as gestation or pregnancy. Normally, pregnancy is divided into three trimesters. The first trimester is from week one to 12 and it includes conception. The second trimester is from week 13 to 28 and the third trimester is from 29 weeks to 40.

The first week of pregnancy is the week following the woman’s last period. During this period, your body is preparing to ovulate. There is no embryo yet, but there is a woman’s egg and a sperm that is ready to fertilize the egg. Even though you have not yet conceived, this is already the first week of your pregnancy.  The early symptoms of pregnancy 1 week are those typical to your period, such as vaginal bleeding because the body is shedding the uterine lining that holds the unfertilized egg. 

First-week pregnant symptoms also include cramps and lower back pain, bloating, headache, and mood swings.

The classic clues or early symptoms of pregnancy are having a tender and swollen breasts, fatigue or tiredness, cramping or spotting, nausea with or without vomiting, food cravings or aversions, headaches, and constipation. Some women also experience mood swings because of the flood of hormones, dizziness or faintness, raised basal body temperature, and a missed period.

The above early symptoms of pregnancy are not unique. Some symptoms may just mean that your period is about to start or you are getting sick. Also, some women are already pregnant without even experiencing all the symptoms above.

What Involves Prenatal Care that Help Improve Pregnancy?

Prenatal care will improve the pregnancy outcome. As a part of the prenatal care, your nurse, doctor, or midwife will monitor the baby’s development and will conduct a routine test in order to avoid possible health problems. Prenatal care includes taking extra folic acid, regular exercise, regular physical examinations, and avoiding alcohol and drugs.

There may be few things that will cause you stress when you are pregnant, but healthy eating should not be one of those. To include in the list of good food for pregnancy, include dairy products to consume extra calcium and protein in order to meet the needs of your growing fetus. Greek yogurt is also beneficial for the pregnant women.

Legumes, sweet potatoes, salmon, and eggs are healthy foods that contain bits of important nutrients for you and your developing baby. Lean meat, whole grains, green leafy vegetables, and fish liver oil are also included.

Take note that these foods promote healthy weight gain in pregnancy.

Water is needed so that every organ and cell in our body will properly function. However, the water may also be removed from the body through breathing, sweat, and excrements, making it all the more necessary to replace water on a regular basis. A good drink for pregnancy includes water, milk, broths and soups, and fresh fruit juice. Making your favorite smoothie combination with frozen berries and some fruit-banana is a good start.

It is more important for a woman to eat a healthy diet when she is pregnant because pregnancy is one of the most delicate and vital times in her life. This also means paying attention to foods she eats. The foods to avoid during pregnancy include high-mercury fish, such as swordfish, tuna, king mackerel, and shark, since mercury is a toxic element.

Avoid raw or undercooked fish, raw, undercooked, or processed meat, raw eggs, too much organ meat as it may cause toxicity to vitamin A, and caffeine.
